About - “Spurs’ Cult Heroes”

Spurs’ Cult Heroes

AANP’s first book will trace the glorious traditions and history of Tottenham Hotspur FC, by looking at players who achieved legendary status amongst us fans for what they did at the club.
The book is due out on 6 March 2010 from Know The Score Books, and will comprise 20 players who captured the hearts and imaginations of fans – and then examine why them and why then.
It will chart the greatest moments in the club’s history – from the FA Cup win of 1901, to Gazza’s demolition of Arsenal in 1991, via the Double-winners, Ricky Villa’s wonder-goal and many more.

The book will also explore some of the behind-the-scenes stories - including what Dave Mackay said when he grabbed Billy Bremner’s shirt, how Keith Burkinshaw reacted when offered Ardiles and Villa, who dented the FA Cup and why Gazza turned up for training covered in £50 notes.

It will include interviews with legends such as Keith Burkinshaw, Ricky Villa and Gary Mabbutt - as well as recollections of fans. Feel free to leave your memories of those to feature in the book, from both on and off the pitch – favourite moments, first impressions, crowd chants, personal meetings you may have had.

Spurs’ Cult Heroes is out in shops on Saturday 6 March - but available to pre-order now from Tottenhamhotspur.com, as well as WHSmith, Amazon , TescoWaterstones and Play - or you can keep tabs on its progress by becoming a facebook fan here or a twitter follower here.

The compilation of the list of 20 Spurs Cult Heroes may have been fairly unscientific at times, but it has drawn on masses of personal opinions and reminiscences. It is not a list of the definitive 20 Spurs heroes - as personal opinions necessarily differ on such a subjective matter - but it is a selection of 20 from a wider pool of candidates.
You are most welcome to leave your memories - and browse those of others - regarding some of the featured players:
